Grim Justice's vocalist and guitarist, Michela Vignoli, shares insights into their latest single, "Hey Angel", a captivating hard rock ballad that explores a love tragedy from an unexpected perspective. Michela reveals the song's creative process and the influence of Ronnie James Dio on the band's music.

Discussing the inception of "Hey Angel", Michela says: "Our lead guitarist Thomas, the mastermind beyond most of our compositions, came up with this infectious and romantic riff a couple of years ago. We instantly knew that the song must be titled 'Hey Angel' - like the beautiful song on Dio's album 'Lock up the Wolves', one of the most influential albums for me." This inspiration led Michela to revisit the piano, ultimately incorporating a piano arrangement into the album version featured on "Justice in the Night".

Speaking about the song's theme, Michela emphasizes the unique narrative perspective: "I did not simply want to write a corny love song, which is not really in the spirit of the music I want to make. Instead, I came up with a love tragedy told from an unusual perspective." This perspective, she explains, is of a person who has to turn down someone dear to her, offering a different take on love tragedies.

As for the single's place in Grim Justice's discography, Michela admits "Compared to our other songs, 'Hey Angel' is certainly the most daring because it is rather poppy and mainstream." She adds that the song was initially difficult to get acquainted with, but the band ultimately fell in love with it and is proud of the result.

On fan reactions, Michela shares her hopes: "We know that metalheads are tender-hearted, so we are quite confident that they will like the song even though it is softer than usual." The positive feedback from fans has been encouraging, and the radio edit aims to reach an even broader audience.
