‘Fading Love’ is the debut album from British DJ and producer George FitzGerald, released on 27th April 2015. The album’s 10 songs were recorded and produced both in London and George's adopted home, Berlin.

Initially an artist who made his name DJ'ing the world's most prestigious club and festival stages, FitzGerald has also held a residency at Radio 1 for the past two years. With ‘Fading Love’, however, FitzGerald eschews the constraints of club-ready dance music and explores a variety of more tactile areas of electronic music, working with unexpected collaborators who fall outside of the expected DJ/producer community.

The composition of the album began in an Ibiza studio rented on a whim between DJ gigs in summer 2013. It was here that George's increasing feelings of alienation towards the excesses and one-dimensional records so pervasive in dance music began to crystallise. Indeed, the title of the album, ‘Fading Love’, documents not only the disintegration of a romantic relationship but also FitzGerald's dwindling enthusiasm for music that so blindly ignored the more complicated realities of his own life.

Full Circle (which you can stream HERE), is a surprisingly mellow track. Immediately satisfying chords are familiar FitzGerald, but the production around them is more delicate than expected. In stark contrast to the sort of vocal snippets expected from much UK dance music, the soft vocals of Oli Bayston (frontman of Boxed In) feel much less of an afterthought. The lyrics are as considered as their delivery, which coupled with the crisp English quality of Bayston's voice, place the track within an older, at times seemingly forgotten strand of UK dance music home to Underworld, Leftfield, New Order and Depeche Mode.

It was in FitzGerald’s Berlin studio that 'Full Circle' began to take shape, a cherished, old newspaper clipping of footballer Eric Cantona with the headline 'Cantona Comes Full Circle', which adorned the wall, providing the unexpected flash of inspiration for a song about the unfulfilled promise of stagnant relationships. The song, by only hinting at the dancefloor, channels the more uncomfortable reality of life when the final track of the night has run its course, the club is silent and some kind of normality resumes.
