While Cathedrals thrived in its fusion of electronic textures with emotionally charged songwriting, HWIN’s solo work distills those influences into something more intimate and immediate. Just Like a Flower reflects this next phase - one rooted in profoundly personal storytelling yet designed to thrive in spaces where music and connection flourish.
Just Like a Flower marks HWIN's progression from acclaimed producer to cultural architect. The EP weaves a tapestry of contrasts—intimate yet anthemic, underground yet accessible —refracting diverse musical influences through the prism of community experience.
In celebration of the EP release, HWIN is throwing a 57 Records launch party at HERO NYC on March 22, the day after the release of the full EP. Step into the same remarkable space where The Weeknd recently celebrated his album release - HERO NYC offers a rare immersive experience where light and sound surround you in 360° environments. Towering LED walls create atmospheres that transport you beyond ordinary space. Now the venue will be transformed to showcase 57 artist-in-residence HWIN’s debut EP “Just Like a Flower,” coming out March 21st. This thoughtfully chosen venue perfectly complements the culmination of 57’s five-year community-building journey. For release party attendance, please reach out to nina@rephlektorink.com.
HWIN has also been a key driving force behind the community 57. 57 has its own proprietary social network for members, with over 8,000 profiles and active participants. Bringing collaboration back into art, 57 hosts artist performances and its infamous Circadian Rhythm parties (think Boiler Room), both of which take place in its studio space, which doubles as a nightclub.
With the release of this EP, HWIN unveils his community-driven collective’s record label, 57. This iterative, community-driven approach to music creation represents a new model of artist development in which the audience becomes an active participant in the creative process. But fostering a creative community isn’t a new value of Johnny Hwin’s - as he was also heavily involved in The Sub in San Francisco, an art and tech collective that helped launch his Cathedrals project. This initiative garnered him support in The New Yorker and more, citing “People come to the Sub to be in the swing of things, and the things in which they’re swinging tend to reflect a blend of business and small-scale creative art.”
HWIN cites his home, New York City, as an active force in shaping his music and vision. The city’s relentless energy, intersections of art and culture, and ability to inspire and challenge are embedded in 57’s DNA. 57 has become a sanctuary where artists can find a creative home in a metropolis that can feel exhilarating and isolating.
“NYC forces you out of your comfort zone. It keeps you honest, but it also shows you what’s possible when you build something real. That’s what 57 is about. That’s what this EP is about.” - HWIN
HWIN’s transition from Cathedrals to a solo artist was not just about refining his sound, it was about redefining the way music is created and shared. With the founding of 57, he has cultivated a community where music isn’t just something to be consumed, but something to be experienced collectively. What began as a physical creative space in NYC has grown into a thriving movement, with over 8,000 active members engaging in initiatives fusing music, art, wellness, and technology. 57’s impact is undeniable. From intimate FAM Artist Salons featuring artists like Stephan Jenkins (Third Eye Blind) and Barry Can’t Swim, to Circadian Rhythms—a monthly event that transforms 57 from a creative studio into a vibrant electronic music venue—this space has become a gravitational center for underground culture. With consistent sold-out events drawing over 500 attendees, HWIN has proved that the demand for authentic, communal creative experiences is stronger than ever.
As 57 Records launches into the world, Just Like a Flower is the first bloom in what promises to be a long, evolving season of creativity. And for HWIN, this is only the beginning.
