The music industry continues to face constant change, with declining physical sales and insufficient streaming revenues, but heavy metal has always proven its resilience and ability to renew itself.

FIREFLASH RECORDS, originally founded in 2022 by longtime scene veteran Markus Wosgien, is now officially re-launching as an independent label. The label’s first chapter already included the final studio album by German thrash legends HOLY MOSES (their first-ever chart entry at #14 in Germany), the debut album of British rising stars TAILGUNNER, the reunion album by Swedish thrashers MEZZROW, and a new release from US cult metal act RUTHLESS.

In 2024, FIREFLASH RECORDS and ATOMIC FIRE RECORDS, where Markus Wosgien was one of the managing directors, became part of REIGNING PHOENIX MUSIC. After two years, both parties decided to part ways, with Wosgien now fully independent and relaunching FIREFLASH RECORDS.

FIREFLASH RECORDS will continue its successful collaboration with HOLY MOSES and, in addition to numerous back catalog-titles, will also release the band's final chapter, a live album of their farewell show at Hamburg's „Markthalle“. A new contract has also been signed with RUTHLESS, whose upcoming studio album “Curse Of The Beast” will be released in July, ahead of their appearance at Germany’s Headbanger’s Open Air festival.

Today, FIREFLASH RECORDS is proud to announce its first new signings, led by Swedish Heavy Metal powerhouse WOLF. A band that reflects everything the label stands for. „We are thrilled to work with Fireflash Records, a label that shares the same passion for heavy metal as we do. Wolf album number 10 is on the way and will be released on Fireflash Records in 2026. Look out!“, comments vocalist Niklas Stålvind. „I simply love everything about Wolf. They are the definition of what Heavy Metal is about. I am more than proud to get their trust and release their upcoming records“, adds Markus Wosgien

Another major signing is the reunited Berlin based, melancholic/thrash metal cult band DEPRESSIVE AGE. The band’s back catalogue will soon be available digitally for the first time and will also be gradually reissued physically, while the focus lies firmly on the upcoming reunion album planned for January 2027. „We couldn't have started the new year any better with Depressive Age... a record deal with our dream partner Fireflash Records! We are looking forward to a great and creative collaboration and will start recording our new album in April“, confirms guitarist and founding member Jochen Klemp

From darker realms comes Dutch folk/black metal band VANAHEIM, whose epic sound bridges the worlds of Ensiferum, Wintersun and Moonsorrow. “With Markus of Fireflash Records, we have found somebody who shares our vision for epic music, quality and the values we stand for as a band. Together we will spread the stories of Vanaheim wide and far. The next chapter in the band's history is about to unfold,” states the band.

ROCK JUSTICE joins the roster, featuring singer Maggy Luyten (Ayreon, Beautiful Sin, The Prize, ex-Nightmare) and guitarist Bas Maas (Doro, After Forever). The band delivers a powerful and energetic mix of hard rock and metal. “We are very happy to be with a label that shares our old-school rock values and down-to-earth attitude. We have known Markus Wosgien for many years and consider ourselves very fortunate to be working with someone we deeply respect,” the band comments.

Another pure heavy metal statement comes from Swedish cult act MASTER MASSIVE, originally founded in the early ’90s by guitarist Jan Strandh. “We are proud to announce that Master Massive’s next album will be released through Fireflash Records during summer 2026. The label is driven by a genuine and uncompromising passion for heavy metal,” the band states. MASTER MASSIVE also decided to move forward with the three-vocalist concept, including Tony Niva (ex-LION'S SHARE, ZANITY), Viktor Gustafsson (LETHAL STEEL), and their recent singer Marcus “Masken” Karlsson. Expect a big Heavy/Power/Prog Metal album with nothing but epic hymns.

Future releases from FIREFLASH RECORDS will be distributed worldwide by EDEL (physical) and KONTOR NEW MEDIA (digital), the label’s preferred partner, with real metalheads in the company, who understand the scene, but also help to develop the label on a new level. Ralph Ulrich, label and product manager at KNM, is also enthusiastic, stating: "We are very excited about the new partnership with Fireflash Records and Markus Wosgien, a true scene expert with decades of experience. This collaboration is an important step for us in further expanding the metal sector in Kontor New Media's portfolio and offering fans many exciting releases. With the combined expertise and passion of the Fireflash team, we are confident that together we will set new trends and enrich the scene in the long term."

The label name “Fireflash” comes from the HELLOWEEN classic “Twilight Of The Gods”, which indeed becomes "now reality". A band that influenced Markus Wosgien the most in his early teenage years within the second half of the 80's, alongside his childhood and alltime faves ACCEPT and STORMWITCH. He started out in the scene with his own fanzines ("Troubadix“, "Circle Of The Tyrants“) and as a writer for various metal magazines ("Horror Infernal“, "Iron Pages“, "Metal Heart“ a.o.), before learning the work as a publicist with LAST EPISODE PRODUCTIONS in the mid-nineties, doing PR for the early albums of BRAINSTORM, MYSTIC CIRCLE, GRAVEWORM, SACRIVERSUM and PARAGON, among others. At the turn of the millennium, he finally joined industry giant NUCLEAR BLAST, where he worked for 18 years as a publicist and A&R for artists like NIGHTWISH, BLIND GUARDIAN, SABATON, HAMMERFALL, AVANTASIA, MANOWAR, DORO, RHAPSODY, ACCEPT, GOTTHARD, PRIMAL FEAR, ENFORCER, RAGE and many more.
