Ran D - Zombie

From the moment the track Zombie – originally from The Cranberries – was released it was clear something special was happening. Attention and enthusiasm for this track inside and outside the hardstyle scene were extremely big and positive. No wonder Zombie became one of the most famous tracks within the hardstyle scene last year. Now it has received the Golden record status, which is very rare within the hardstyle scene, and is definitely considered a worldwide top performance.

Dutchman Randy Wieland alias Ran-D has been producing hardstyle since 2005 and is co-owner of label Roughstate. The record Zombie was released by dance label Armada; the label of the famous Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren. Armin and numerous other international DJ’s supported Zombie. To name a few: DJ Tiësto, W&W, Headhunterz, Zatox, Brennan Heart, The Chainsmokers and Coone, but the list of support names is actually much longer than that. The track was played at the mainstages of international dancefestivals like Tomorrowland, 7th Sunday, Qlimax, Parookaville, Paaspop, EDC Las Vegas and Defqon.1 as well as radio stations Radio538 and Slam!.

The original song ‘Zombie’ was released by the Irish band The Cranberries in 1993. Dolores O’Riordan – former lead singer of the band who, unfortunately, died last year – wrote the song. With this song The Cranberries responded to the violent IRA-bomb attack in Ireland, which took place that same year. Moreover, the band gave Ran-D permission to use the song for his hardstyle remix.

This gold record is one more success to add to the list of Ran-D and his team. Earlier he received a lot of praise for his success with tracks Hurricane, The Power of Now and of course his breakthrough with Living For The Moment. A golden record is granted by NVPI to records that sell over 40.000 copies. To sell this amount is, especially for the hardstyle scene, a huge achievement and something to be very proud of!
