The debut album from US hard rock group Dead Soul Revival is entitled Ignite and bristles with an energy and urgency that immediately makes you sit up and take notice. In 12 tracks, the band makes it clear they have a unique take on the world of heavy music and with hooky choruses and pristine production this album will bear repeated listening.

The album kicks off with a powerful reimagining of NIN’s The Hand That Feeds before bringing the moody vibes and poignant lyrics of the hit single Black Roses. Let It Ride swaggers and struts as the band’s ode to the Las Vegas no holds barred attitude. Nothing Left is a track that was inspired by the pandemic and the feelings of frustration it brought out in so many of us. When you are ready to sing along to an arena worthy anthem you’ll want to put on Monsters in my Head. With it’s soaring vocals In This Moment reminds us to live in the now. Still Frames brings in more of the band’s electronic influence while Breathe pulses with rhythmic urgency. In the Meantime is a fresh take on the Spacehog classic, while Down For The Last Time looks at the excesses of rock n’ roll.

Closing the album are acoustic versions of Black Roses and Breathe. The band made these tracks extensions of the originals instead of carbon copies.
