Brisbane, Australia – Blackened fantasy metallers Darklore are set to return with their monumental second studio album, The Great Elven War, independently on February 20th. Spanning nearly seventy minutes across eight powerful and immersive tracks, this epic release takes listeners on a heroic journey through realms both familiar and fantastical.
Musically, The Great Elven War marks a bold evolution for Darklore. The band has elevated their sound to new heights of composition, content, and musicality, forging an unmistakable identity that is truly their own. A heavy, crushing bass tone underpins relentless, battle-driven drumming, while melodic riffs and rich harmonies from the guitars bring balance and beauty to the storm. Layered with majestic orchestral arrangements and commanding blackened death vocals, the album strikes a perfect harmony between aggression and grandeur.
Thematically, The Great Elven War invites fans into a rich fantasy world inspired by beloved games such as Skyrim, The Witcher 3, and Diablo, alongside literary and cinematic epics including The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. Interwoven among these influences are Darklore’s own original tales, most notably the album’s title track, a stirring saga of conflict, courage, and conquest. Each composition is a chapter in an overarching narrative celebrating the triumphs of battle and the resilience of the warrior spirit.
In the band’s own words:
“This incredible album is everything that we wanted it to be and much more! Fragments of our souls are embedded throughout these eight incredibly epic tracks. The Great Elven War is a MUST HAVE for all fans of fantasy metal!”
