Dardust, one of the most innovative pianists and composers of Italy’s new generation, will present the installation “SommersiVo” at the Venice Pavilion during the 61st International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale (May 9 – November 22, 2026). Bringing his own interpretation of the city of Venice, he will debut an original composition and installation within the exhibition project Note persistenti, curated by Giovanna Zabotti.
Alongside the Biennale exhibition, Dardust will bring his Urban Impressionism Tour (Vivo Concerti) across Italy and Europe, with upcoming dates in Milan (Teatro San Babila, May 20–21), Lisbon (Centro Cultural de Belém, May 23), Paris (New Morning, May 26), and London (Courtyard Studio, May 27). Conceived as an immersive environment, SommersiVo transforms sound into a living, generative medium. Created in collaboration with set designer Paolo Fantin and with technological support from H-Farm and Cisco, the installation is powered by an AI-driven sound system that responds in real time to the acoustic life of the city, environmental data, and the presence of visitors.
At the heart of the work is a self-playing piano that activates eight times a day, on the hour, throughout the Biennale. Each iteration generates a constantly evolving soundscape, ensuring that no two experiences are the same. Within this framework, Venice itself is reimagined as a dynamic sonic organism, while visitors become active participants in the unfolding composition.
“SommersiVo stems from the idea that certain sounds exist only beneath the surface. Venice is a city that lives on two levels: the visible one and the submerged one, made of memory, stratifications, and suspended time. Music becomes an immersion into this invisible space, where every note turns into an echo, continuing to resonate even as it seems to fade. In dialogue with the Venice Pavilion, my work moves through the city’s deepest dimension, attempting to translate it into sound: a place where past and present merge, and where what we have been does not disappear, but remains—submerged and alive. It is here that the most subversive gesture of sound reveals itself: continuing to exist as memory beyond time and space,” said Dardust.
Dardust has recently released his new EP “We Only Love Spaces and Doors”, following his stunning performance at the Opening Ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games. Watch HERE and listen to “We Only Love Spaces and Doors” HERE
