Swiss noise rock/hardcore outfit, COILGUNS, have premiered a new track (and video) from their upcoming album. Prioress is taken from boundary pushing full-length, Watchwinders - due out this Friday via Hummus Records. Prioress is streaming via Echoes & Dust now. About the track, guitarist Jona Nido comments: "The longer the night the less we sleep. Our muscles always start hurting when we can finally rest. We’re all brave and dedicated entrepreneurs, but at the end of the day instead of enjoying our work we sit and swear we could do better. This song is a good antidote. We thought it was meant to be a minor interlude, but it grew for us into a keypoint of the album. We added things step by step, vague ideas gathered and arranged without thinking too much about it. Everything found its natural place. Even when we finally decided to add vocals, they came out easily. It appeared to be a very resilient song, despite the darkness of its tone and theme."

Watchwinders was written and recorded during one intense month-long session, with the results being an urgent and challenging suite of unpolished bursts. Watchwinders sums up the sheer pleasure of doing things the unusual way with nods to punk, noise, hardcore and more; summarising COILGUNS' discordant nature perfectly. Excessively low-tuned guitars, gnarly synths and eccentric vocals are carried away by obsessive drumbeats; the album serves as a complex and utopian mechanism of perpetual motion, an urgent and clever series of sketches.
