London math/post rock band Codices have announced that their debut album ‘Vivid’ will be released on 15th October 2021 through Beth Shalom Records, the follow up to the 2017 EP ‘Illuminations’.

The experimental quartet have also released the first single from the record, entitled ‘Machines Driving Machines’, which is out now. Drawing upon the euphoria of post rock and the technicality of math rock, the track showcases the band’s vision for the album: frenetic, polyrhythmic riffs, carefully assembled instrumentation and evocative, powerful moments of release.

Speaking of the record, guitarist Sam Festenstein comments: "This album is simply an amalgamation of our musical preferences. We wrote the entirety of it together, so all four of us had equal say. No record label pressure. No pretence. No predisposition. It's the sum of four very opinionated music lovers, with varying but overlapping tastes, spending three years in a practice room arguing about what sounds best".

Having previously drawn comparisons with the likes of And So I Watch You From Afar, Brontide, Maybeshewill and Alpha Male Tea Party, this album looks set to launch Codices into the next chapter of their career.

The band have already made waves on the UK experimental rock scene, having played at festivals such as ArcTanGent, Portals and Upgefukt, and opened for the likes of Totorro, Hikes, The Fierce and The Dead and Alpha Male Tea Party.
