Having been hailed as ‘pop’s newest troublemakers’ by NYLON, previous releases ‘Bang. Pop. Go Worldwide.’ and ‘Feel Good’ received a landslide of support from the likes of Billboard Pride, BuzzFeed, Wonderland Magazine, Official Charts, BBC 6Music and more. ‘Do My Thing’ is the third track to be taken from their upcoming self written and self produced ‘Sinking Ship’ EP, due in April, with additional production magic from John Foyle (Years & Years, FKA Twigs).

Speaking about the song, Ella says: “We wrote ‘Do My Thing’ to celebrate individuality, and the empowerment that comes from embracing your uniqueness in the face of people who aren’t always accepting. We always try to use music as a way to express ourselves and discuss the social issues affecting us, but coming into 2020 we didn’t want to focus on the political shit storm we’re all in at the moment… ‘Do My Thing’ is a party song about feeling confident in the face of all that.”

Continuing, Alex says: “I think we’ve always both felt like the underdogs, so this song is about embracing that. Neither of us fit inside boxes in any aspect of our lives, but why should that be a bad thing? I think that should be celebrated, and if the world’s falling apart around us then we might as well go down having a good time!”.

With lyrics about pervert priests, murderous gold diggers, and even politician Theresa May; relentless independent British pop duo Cherryade definitely aren’t afraid to speak their minds and venture outside of the lines of pop.

Outspoken, bold and colourful (to say the very least), Ella and Alex have gone from writing drunken teenage GarageBand demos to making fully fledged pop bangers with the likes of Ant Whiting (M.I.A., John Newman), Xenomania (Girls Aloud, Sugababes) and Lewis Gardiner (Ellie Goulding). Having received previous support from TIME Magazine, MTV, The Guardian, The Line Of Best Fit, Dummy, CLASH, Spotify’s New Music Friday, BBC Radio 1 and more, Cherryade are one’s to watch out for in 2020.
