t’s Valentine's Day and surely a good time to fall in love with BRAND NEW FRIEND all over again… Today, the Northern Irish quintet release their long-awaited new EP: ‘A Cure For Living’ on Xtra Mile Recordings. Stream / Download In Full Here: https://brandnewfriend.lnk.to/acureforlivingEP

Their first studio release since 2018’s ‘Seatbelts For Aeroplanes’ arrives with high expectations, following a string of sublime featured singles: ‘Stop The Days’, plus the BBC R1 + Radio X supported ‘Nothing Stays The Same’ and ‘The Letter A’.

In honour of the EP’s release, the band are pleased to add to that list - ‘Plastic Flowers’ - a new single which comes gift wrapped with a message for a special mentor of the band, who also happens to be a certain member of Snow Patrol.

“Gary Lightbody gave me his copy of the book ‘Grab On To Me Tightly, As If I Knew The Way’ by Bryan Charles & asked me to write a song about it.” explains Taylor of BNF. ‘Plastic Flowers’ is like my present to him! He’s not heard it yet, but the second he does he’ll know what it’s about. He told me it’s one of his favourite books of all time.”

The track is also accompanied with an adorable video, that might require viewers to do a double-take.... Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/phsS_QA8rPw

‘Plastic Flowers’, like the 7 new tracks to be found on their new EP release today is evident of a five-piece in fervent and fizzing form, bursting at the seams with their trademark bubblegum-pop energy.

Tuning into the ‘A Cure For Living’ EP, listeners will still hear a record centred around the disarming songwriting and lilting harmonies of brother and sister Taylor and Lauren Johnson, yet boosted by band brimming with a confidence that has notably bloomed since their bedroom-pop beginnings. From the roller coaster clatter of ‘She Always Comes Up Smiling’, to the sugar-coated rush of ‘The Karma Party’, the tender balladry of ‘You Can’t Know Everything, I Don’t Know Anything’ and anthemic closer ‘Plastic Flowers’; like the friend you’ve always known, the Castlerock quintet’s new EP is at once familiar, but still always knows how to surprise you.
