Today, Bobby Bazini announces his upcoming album “Seul au cinema”, a first full-length album entirely in French, set for release on September 19 via Spectra Musique. Co-produced with the prolific Connor Seidel (Charlotte Cardin, 1969 Collective), this project marks a major turning point in the Quebec artist's career, already well-established in Canada and internationally. With this announcement, Bobby Bazini offers us a taste of the album to come with “Rouler en août”, available to listen everywhere.
It took fifteen years of career, five albums in English, and countless tours for Bobby Bazini to finally sing in his native tongue. A desire that had long been put off, growing quietly in the background... until one afternoon in an empty cinema, his inspiration sparked.
Talking about the song, Bobby shares: "Rouler en août” practically wrote itself. We had the melody and a presentable demo in less than half a day. Everything was there. Everything except the lyrics! I spent almost six months writing them. It was our favourite song between Connor (Seidel) and me. I really wanted to finish it. Some songs are like that, you have to be patient. The project wasn’t coming together at all; there was still so much to do, but all I wanted was to leave. One morning, at dawn, my partner and I hit the road south to the United States. It was April, but when we arrived there, it felt like August. On the way back, we had a song.
'Rouler en août' is a song about the urge to escape, about those August days that patiently shine in us."

“About Bobby Bazini”
Born in Mont-Laurier, Quebec, to a guitarist father and a singer mother, Bobby Bazini was immersed in the sounds of Americana, folk, and country from a young age. As a teenager, he moved in with his grandmother Louise, who encouraged his passion for music. It was while digging through her vinyl collection—particularly discovering Johnny Cash—that he chose music as his main form of expression, drawing inspiration from legends like Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Otis Redding, and Bob Dylan.
Bobby released his debut single, “I Wonder”, which received immediate success in Canada, where it stayed eight weeks in the top 3 of the ADISQ chart. His first album, “Better in Time”, was certified Gold shortly after its release, marking a major breakthrough in his career. This was followed by “Where I Belong” (2014), which topped the Canadian charts and became the best-selling Canadian album of the year, with over 100,000 copies sold. Two years later, he returned with “Summer Is Gone”, a record shaped by collaborations with artists such as Chris Stapleton and Brendan Benson. For this project, Bobby travelled to Nashville, London, and Los Angeles, infusing his sound with a wide range of influences.
His fourth album, “Move Away” (2020), marked a more eclectic direction. Recorded in various studios around the world, it featured collaborations with a dozen producers, including Brazilian guitarist Pedro Vito. To promote the album, Bobby was invited to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival’s “Music In The Park”, which led to an international tour with Jalen Ngonda in partnership with Montreux Jazz, across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa—just before the pandemic.
In August 2023, Bobby released his fifth studio album—and his first self-produced project—“Pearl”, recorded in Quebec. This 11-track album, inspired by the sea and created with new collaborator Connor Seidel (1969 Collective, Charlotte Cardin, Les sœurs Boulay), blends modern jazz elements with touches of bossa nova. Pearl was widely praised by the press in Quebec, Canada, and across Europe for its artistic maturity.
The single 'Waterfallin’' (from "Pearl") gained strong support from British media and radio: it was added to the Jazz FM playlist and received significant airplay on BBC 6 Music, especially from Gilles Peterson, who loved the track so much he created a remix released on 7-inch vinyl. The album received a 4-star review from Mojo and was championed by Jamie Cullum and Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2.
After more than a decade of success—including award nominations (JUNO®, Félix, etc.), platinum records, tens of millions of streams, and numerous sold-out shows—Bobby Bazini has firmly cemented his place in Canadian music history… and in the hearts of his fans.
