Industrial noise-punk duo Black Futures have shared the video for their new single, ‘Trance’, an oasis of sonic extravagance. The video coincides with the release of their limited edition vinyl only EP, Expedition 001, out today.

Filmed in the Joshua Tree desert, the video opens to unnerving silence before unleashing a potent blend of lysergic visions and perception skewing landscapes. The visuals are accompanied by the undulating tones of ‘Trance’, which weave between anthemic hooks and passages of chaotic instrumentals, juxtaposing glistening vocals with industrial aural anarchy. Celebrate the video’s release by confessing your secrets here.

Deserts are a fantastic place for expanding your mind,” say Black Futures. “It is impossible not to feel insignificant in such a vast, dangerous, overwhelming landscape. Welcome to a day in the life of a founding member of the Mojave Desert Black Futures Expedition Club. Wandering through existence becoming physically and mentally overwhelmed by the beauty and absurdity of existence. A pure, joyous, nihilistic display of reckless abandon.”

Trance’ was Annie Mac’s Tune Of The Week on Radio 1, and follows the release of their previous singles ‘Karma Ya Dig!?’, ‘Love’ and ‘Riches’, which have variously seen the band championed by Annie and Huw Stephens at Radio 1 along with various spins on 6Music and Radio X. The band have also had enthusiastic press support from the likes of Upset, Kerrang, Metal Hammer, BBC Music, Louder and more, and been featured on Apple Music’s A-List Rock and Breaking Rock playlists.

All four tracks released to date feature on the duo’s Expedition 001 EP, a vinyl only release limited to 100 copies, each of which has been hand stamped and numbered by the band themselves. Out today, each copy includes a limited edition Trance artwork and Black Futures patch, and is only available for purchase via the band’s store.

A formidable live act, Black Futures took their anarchic anthems and visceral live experience to a slew of festivals over the summer, including The Great Escape, 2000 Trees, Y Not, Boardmasters and Reading & Leeds. You can watch the highlights from their recent headline show at London’s Electrowerkz here.
