After releasing first single ‘Mid Day Dream’ in November, Belgian singer Wanthanee is gearing up to take on 2021 with her second single ‘Taipei’.

When Wanthanee visited Taiwan, she got inspired by the local subway melody. Once home, she looked back fondly on her trip and revisited the feeling of inspiration she got from something as basic as a subway sound. It served as the core for ‘Taipei’, a beautiful and richly layered song that once again transports us to the inner thoughts of Wanthanee. With an ensemble of strings and her impressive, compelling voice – her most powerful instrument -, she will undoubtably pull some emotional strings of those who let the song wash over them.

Taipei’ is accompanied by a live session, recorded in the beautiful setting of Anatomisch Theater, De Bijloke in Ghent. This livesession not only showcases the new song but also showcases ‘Wanthanee 2.0’ aka the new live outfit, consisting of Orson Wouters (keys), Koen De Gendt (bass), Sander Stuer (percussion) and the new string trio Stefaan De Rycke (violin), Esther Coorevits (viola) and Vincent Werbrouck (cello).

Sound was done by Mathijs Steels, mixing by Orson Wouters, camera by Myra Olislaegers, editing by Wanthanee and grading by Alexander Van Der Wallen.

Taipei will be released on January 14th by V2 records.
