Fresh off their performance of “Carry On” with The Score on The Late Late Show with James Corden on 10/22, Better Noise Music recording artist AWOLNATION released a new version of their song, “Radical”, featuring Grouplove. Additionally, announcing that their new live album "Angel Miners & Lightning Riders Live From 2020" will be released on November 20, 2020, pre-save here.
“Radical”, previously released on AWOLNATION’s latest critically acclaimed album, "Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders", takes on a new vibe via a collaboration with Alterative Rock Band Grouplove. Singers Christian Zucconi & Hannah Hooper lend their unique vocal styling to the track. Their alternative roots complement AWOLNATION’s catchy and rousing song, Aaron Bruno says: "I’ve always been impressed by Grouplove’s energy anytime we shared the stage and we have always flirted with the idea of a collaboration. I’m so happy we finally made this happen, and their voices feel like a perfect fit!” Hannah from Grouplove added “We’ve been feeling so separated from the world, so it felt really good to collab on something. We got to delve into Radical and runaway with Aaron for a little bit. Twas truly fun”.
Rather than taking a more serious route, the title of the new single is a more playful and sarcastic use of the word “Radical”. Singer Aaron Bruno speaking about it says, “‘Radical’ is just a sarcastic notion, a fun rock anthem about saying that I never claimed to be anything. It's just a kind of uplifting sort of rock song for everyone".
Continuing the concept and success of the album "Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders" which centers on the struggle between Good (‘Lightning Riders’) and Evil (Angel Miners’), Aaron Bruno presents the next step in the concept: "Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders Live From 2020".
The music was recorded live in Aaron’s recently rebuilt studio after wildfires burned down his previous studio. That event inspired much of the new album’s music. It features all instrumentation, no tracks and arrangements that have creative flourishes and the fervent energy that AWOLNATION is known for.
The original album, "Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders", was released in April 2020 to great success, reaching #1 on iTunes Alternative Charts in the US, Canada, Sweden, Germany, and Finland.
Due to the cancellation of touring and live music due to the pandemic, Aaron was motivated by the idea of giving fans a front-to-back live representation of the new album. Each live song has a performance video shot and edited to create a completely unique visual. They’re also accompanied by a multimedia live action & animated video series called “Bottled Lightning”, which premieres every Wednesday on AWOLNATION’s Instagram & Snapchat profiles.
