Peterborough-based quartet Airways have released the official video for new single Alien, the first track to be taken from their upcoming new studio EP, due in 2019. The video - dubbed 4 Boys, 1 President - serves as a response to the band’s unsuccessful attempt in obtaining American visas for a US tour in 2017

Speaking of the video, the band said: “Last year we spent most of our money applying for visas so we could play in America. The application got declined without an explanation. We wrote this song about it and with the money we had left, we decided to order some Rubik's cubes and arrange them into something special.” In making the video, the band bought 440 Rubik’s cubes and created a mosaic of American president Donald Trump's face, which you can find above.

Alien marks the band’s first new music since 2017’s Starting to Spin EP, a five-track release which thrust them into the indie spotlight, spawning popular singles One Foot and Reckless Tongue. To date, both singles have amassed nearly 6 million streams on Spotify alone.

The release of the video comes in the wake of a tragic shooting in Thousand Oaks, CA, the town in which Airways were conceived back in 2016. Due to this, the band are also raising money for Everytown, an American charity which aims to work together with local communities in ending gun violence. Click here to donate.

Airways consists of Jake Daniels (vocals/guitar), Alexander Ruggiero (guitar), Jamie Reynolds (bass) and Brian Moroney (drums). Having formed when the Peterborough-based Daniels met Moroney in 2015 on a songwriting trip to Los Angeles, Airways subsequently recruited Daniels’ lifelong friend Ruggiero and Birmingham-based Reynolds. In the three years since forming, Airways have toured with the likes of Nothing But Thieves, The Hunna and Sunset Sons whilst also appearing at festivals across Europe and the UK such as Reading & Leeds, Mad Cool Festival and Waterpop. Earlier this summer, the band embarked on a successful European tour which saw them perform to packed clubs in Amsterdam, Hamburg and Vienna. A full UK tour is slated for September and is preceded by shows in Paris, Munich and Zurich. The band will also join Razorlight on the road later this year.
