Since its foundation in 2016, the Copenhagen, Denmark based festival A COLOSSAL WEEKEND has been an artistic platform for genre-crossing, heavy, and experimental music.. Next year, the festival will celebrate its 10th year anniversary, which will take place from 7th-9th May 2026 with VEGA and Basement in Copenhagen as its fixed location. The first round of artists was announced in late September, and today a new line of exciting artists is added, showcasing the festival’s exploratory nature and its movement in present and past — and the fusion of these.
Swedish CULT OF LUNA will be one of the headliners in 2026, and the legendary band, which last visited the festival’s first edition in 2016, is one of the most important and defining bands within post-metal. The festival can also announce the heavy psych rock trio KING BUFFALO (US) and the doom-laden heavy shoegazers BLACKWATER HOLYLIGHT (US). From the domestic scene, the album-current avant-garde noise-rock ensemble HEATHE (DK) and the screamo/hardcore quintet HUDSULT (DK) are added. The Belgian avant-garde collective THOT (BEL) delivers genre-distorting post-everything, and the final addition is SVALBARD (UK), who will perform their exploratory post-hardcore on Danish soil for the very last time.
Thus, the preliminary line-up for A COLOSSAL WEEKEND 2026 is:
BLACKWATER HOLYLIGHT (US) - CULT OF LUNA (SE) - FERAL NATURE (NO) - HEATHE (DK) - HUDSULT (DK) - HYPER GAL (JP) - KING BUFFALO (US) - PAIN MAGAZINE (FR) - PELICAN (US) - RUSSIAN CIRCLES (US) - SHEARLING (US) - SVALBARD (UK) - THOT (BEL) - TRUCKFIGHTERS (SE)
The final poster will feature up to 30 bands from both Denmark and abroad. Full festival tickets cost 1,165 DKK/156 € incl. fees and are on sale now HERE, while single-day tickets will go on sale in December.
Founded in 2016, A COLOSSAL WEEKEND is Copenhagen’s festival for the experimental and progressive edges of intense music. It offers more than concerts – it creates immersive experiences where sound, identity, and presence converge.
The festival champions diversity as a foundation for artistic quality, featuring a strong presence of female, non-binary, and queer artists. Music and exploration are intertwined with existential and, at times, activistic themes – from furious punk to ritualistic ambient and poetic doom.
With its intimate scale and inclusive ethos, A COLOSSAL WEEKEND is a space where audiences and artists meet safely, openly, and curiously. Around 30 % of visitors come from abroad, reflecting the festival’s growing international profile.
A COLOSSAL WEEKEND 2025 was the most attended festival in its history, featuring unforgettable performances from bands such as CHAT PILE, ORANSSI PAZUZU, ELDER, KYLESA, PALLBEARER, ZOLA JESUS, and KELLERMENSCH. Over the years, the festival has also hosted artists such as YOB, BORIS, GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR, CULT OF LUNA, ANNA VON HAUSSWOLFF, DEAFHEAVEN, and LITURGY.
A COLOSSAL WEEKEND is a non-profit, independent festival organized by VEGA in collaboration with a number of local partners.
