En Weller zelf nog even in zijn immer eerlijke stijl hierover: 'I think it's one of the best things I've done... There's nine tracks, but it's still 45 minutes of music or something like that. I can't compare it to any of my other albums. I think it's different not just for me, but different from what else is around.' Ook wreed benieuwd? Of eerst Paul Weller toch nog even situeren? Van bij The Jam over The Style Council?
Dat repertoire omhelst nog altijd klassiekers als 'A Town Called Malice', 'Going Underground', 'Start', 'That's Entertainment', 'The Long Hot Summer', 'You're The Best Thing', 'Shout To The Top', 'Walls Come Tumbling Down', 'Wild Wood', 'You Do Something To Me' en het veelzeggende 'The Changing Man'. Voeg daarbij meer meesterlijke cd's als 'Stanley Road', 'Heavy Soul', '22 Dreams'.
Bovenal is daar zijn onverwoestbare live-reputatie en een uitzonderlijke rock n roll werkethiek. Deze 'modfather' (die zeer jong aan zijn carrière begon) denkt duidelijk nog altijd niet aan zijn pensioen. We blijven het herhalen.
