Aurélien Contentien, the French rapper better known as OrelSan, is back with a new album. OrelSan caused quite some controversy in the French rap-scene with the release his debut album ‘Perdu d’avance’ in 2009. Because of his rather ‘heavy’ debut tracks and lyrics, critics quickly compared him with Eminem in his early years. A sophomore album called ‘Le chant des sirènes’ quicky followed in 2011. On this album, he did not not want to be controversial so he sings without pretention, leaving the controversy behind. His voice is rather pleasant to listen to, rare enough to be noted in a rapper. "I'm not naive enough to have a point of view" summarizes the whole thing.
OrelSan is now back with his third album, ‘La fête est finie’. It is his first solo album in over six years, having worked on two studio albums with CasseursFlowters after releasing his second studio album ‘Le chant des sirènes’ in September 2011. ‘Basique’ was released as the lead single and entered the French Singles Chart at number 31, peaking at number 9. Only three days after the release of the record, ‘La fête est finie’ already sold 500.000 units (gold record), went one week later platinum! ‘La fête est finie’ features artists like Nekfeu, Dizzee Rascal and Stromae. Although featuring other artists on an album is a common thing in the rap-industry, it is rather odd that Stromae features the single ‘La pluie’, as the Belgian artist announced a break from music earlier this year.
