Matt Simons today shares his new track We Can Do Better. Already a top 10 artist across Europe with ‘Catch and Release’, this track is the forerunner for an album, scheduled later this year through [PIAS] Recordings.

This multi-instrumentalist draws on an extensive jazz and classical background to not only write his own music but to play it too – his music recalls classic song structure, hook-filled melodies coupled with an insightful melancholy.

Speaking of the origins of We Can Do Better Matt details “I met up with Emily Warren and Scott Harris, both incredibly accomplished songwriters and we started talking about relationships, specifically marriage. Scott is already married, and I was just about to propose to my girlfriend in the coming weeks. We started discussing articles we'd read about how young people are not jumping into committed relationships nearly as often as previous generations and waiting later and later into their 20s and 30s to get married. With the divorce rate at more than 50%, can you blame them? We decided to write a song of hope for my future fiancée and myself about how We Can Do Better.”

Partnered with a simple but brilliant video featuring a group of children, it came to fruition from an idea the director Beatrice Pegard had. Matt explains In our world of environmental and political chaos, it's a comforting thought to know that the children are our future and let's be honest, we need them to deliver more than ever before.”

Matt Simons will be embarking on a series of live dates over the coming months, watch this space…
